Shiny Pokémon are alternate-color collection forms. In the original game’s published rules, a wild spawn has a 1 in 4,096 shiny chance, and a gacha result has a base 1 in 100 shiny check when that Pokémon has a supported shiny form. A chance is not a fixed countdown.

Evidence scope: No shiny appeared in the five short runs or 17 Kanto pulls recorded on October 14–15. The rates and duplicate handling below come from the official page and checked source snapshot; they are not estimates from those attempts.

Unlock a shiny in the wild

Watch for the shiny effect and the game’s alert or edge indicator. Defeat the shiny Pokémon to unlock it. Simply seeing one does not add it to the collection. Prioritize a safe approach: chasing a shiny through a dense group can end the run before the encounter is resolved.

If you are unsure whether a sprite is shiny, use the game’s indicator and collection result rather than color alone. Different lighting, effects and unfamiliar Pokémon can make a normal sprite look unusual.

Find shinies through gacha

Choose the region containing the partner you want. A pull must first select an eligible Pokémon; its shiny check does not mean a 1% chance of your exact target. Five-star pity concerns rarity, not a guaranteed shiny.

The current gacha code avoids repeating an already-owned shiny when another shiny in that same rarity pool is missing. If all suitable shinies in that pool are already owned, the result becomes normal. The official shiny page still describes triple coins for a duplicate shiny, while the current gacha selection logic tries to avoid creating that outcome. For gacha planning, use the current implementation rather than counting on repeat shiny refunds.

Play as the shiny form

After unlocking a shiny, select it through the Pokémon collection or the available shiny selector. Ownership and your current selected form are different states: unlocking a shiny does not mean every future run automatically uses it.

Keep expectations realistic

The wild and gacha rates apply to different events, so they do not directly tell you which route takes less real time. A fast run with many spawns and a stock of earned tickets offer different opportunities. Neither route guarantees a shiny after the denominator’s number of attempts.

Keep collecting mission rewards, and use the gacha guide to avoid mixing regional pity with shiny expectations.
